Katy Perry fills my life with sparkles and joy!

i just want to take this moment to say that i love Katy Perry. She makes my closet, and all it's high jinxs look boring and trite, and that takes a lot of work, just trust. Since she gave a shout out to my man Adam Lambert on her idol performance last night, i thought i would do her a solid and review all of the joys she has brought into our lives.



that's right folks, a custom made doll in her likeness, and it's a really good one, that also happens to be really really really expensive. it was made by the same guy who did the dolls for her "UR SO GAY" music video.








i would also like to note her love of items in the colors mint and sea foam. gurl's got good taste!






i'd like to point out that in this set of six pictures she is wearing a christmas tree, a working merry go round, a muppet costume, and a playing cards inspired dress with matching head band.... i don't know what kool aid she's sipping from but i need it in my life.



i adore her for her un-abashed love of all things fruity. it's way better then Mariah's love for Hello Kitty, or Angelina's love of children from impoverished countries.

and finally the reason for the season. Ms. Perry's loving Elvis/Adam Lambert tribute. everything about this just works for me. an elvis costume can look so tired, and over done. but this is a fresh approach, and the hair is working for me. she put a very unique Katy Perry spin on it, and it made me very happy. if i could wear hot pants in public i would sooooo be replicating this for halloween.

Here are some concept shots from Disney's the Princess and the Frog. The film is going to be Disney's return to 2D animation, and will be the company's first traditional fairy tale in 10 years. it will also feature the first black princess, who will be voiced by tony award winning singer/actor Anika Noni Rose.

My 2009 To-Do List

so the new year always brings on the dreaded new years resolution. i've never really been into resolutions, i think that you should try and better yourself year round, and not just pick a few things you are going to work on. it makes the task feel impossible, and well, like a task, which is boring and no fun to do. what i am into though, are lists. i love making to-do lists, and shopping lists. it's a great way for me to remember, and it actively makes me think about it.

so with that said, here is my to-do list for 2009

1. start using the gym and tanning bed at my apt complex
2. keep a pitcher of ice water at my desk while i work
3. take more pictures, jer and i are living this brand new life and we aren't documenting it very well.
4. save three dollars every day. it's a little bit but if i do it by the end of the year i'll have 1,080 dollars :)
5 have more people over for dinner, and cook at home more.
6. throw more parties, celebrate life a little more.
7. work on finishing all of my projects, i take my time on things but i have a few that got stalled and need to just get finished

this is the plan for 2009, hopefully by updating this blog a little more we will see how much of this i actually work on. i have a feeling 2009 is going to be a good year

So life is going well. i can't believe it is almost christmas. it seems like a month ago i had just left new york and was getting settled in, and now it's Christmas and Jer and i are getting ready to go visit my friends and family in southern california. i am really excited for this trip, i haven't been home in almost three years, and that just feels sooo crazy to me. so if you live in LA Torrance, or Orange County, I wanna try and see you!!!!

everything else is going great. i am still working hard for american apparel, i now have three stores (my two in Berkeley, and i am taking care of the outlet store in Gilroy) It has been really exciting because the company is going through alot of changes, and growth, so to be a huge part of it is extremely satisfying.

i am also doing costumes for Jeremy's school. Which is like a dream, it's so fun to make outfits with items that have patterns! i really do enjoy costuming, it's always been something that i have pursued, and been successful at, but have never been able to fully pursue. i have styled photo shoots for several years now, but getting to create an entire show is a total dream. Right now i am preparing for Romeo and Juliet (a stylized and modern take) and a concert version of Once on this Island. Both shows have been so fun, and the kids are awesome to work with, they are so grateful for everything i do, that it makes it extremely enjoyable. Once on this Island has been an awesome experience for me, i actually did the show my junior year of high school, which was quite possibly the best year of my educational career. So for me to get to share this experience with these kids has been so great.

the apartment is also coming along nicely. We bought a chair for the living room, and i sit in it, and jer sits on the floor and i play with his hair while we watch tv (it's basically my favorite part of the day.) we have picked out some other things we would like to get, and it's all coming together slowly but surely. it's amazing, because the empty apartment felt so daunting when we first moved here, and to see it slowly fill up a little at a time, and really become a home has been an awesome experience. our office is also coming together slowly but surely. i know that now it feels like we have so much room but in a few years i won't be able to think how i lived in such a small space because we will have filled it and already outgrown it, but for now i am just enjoying filling it. :)

right now i have about 800 things i want to say, and about another 1000 things i am thinking would be nice to say but i know i shouldn't.

ugh some things just are not fair. if my life insists on having Gossip Girl esque twists, then i insist on having a fantastic upper east side wardrobe.

now i want to start this off by saying loud and clear, I LOVE KATY PERRY!!!!!

that being said where did she find this ridonkulous dress???? no seriously who sells that dress, part of me needs it in my life.



your eyes are not deceiving you Ms. Perry is in fact wearing a merry go round dress. Now i usually teeter on the edge of admiration and guilt when i look at Katy's vintage romper airplane covered concotions of joy, but this is either completely brilliant, or completely insane.... i have no idea which one, but this dress only confirms that i NEED to become besties with Katy. Anyone who can wear that and sing at the same time is my favorite new person.
